What is a pending transaction?

A transaction made with your card may appear as pending in your dashboard or transaction list. This is normal. There are several steps to complete, to transfer the money from your account to the merchant and this process is not always instant.  It can take up to 30 days for the merchant to claim the money from your account for the transaction amount. Until this happens the transaction will continue to show as pending. The transaction will change from pending to completed once the process is complete. 

A transaction has been pending for more than 7 days. When will the transaction change to complete?

It can be concerning to see transaction is still pending. It does not mean the transaction will not be completed. Sometimes it may take the merchant longer to claim the funds from your account.  The merchant has up to 30 days to claim the funds, if they do not complete the transaction in this time the money will be automatically returned to your account.

Can I stop a pending transaction being processed?

We can’t stop a merchant from processing the transaction and claiming the money from your account. If you wish to cancel the transaction, you will need to contact the merchant.

If the merchant will not cancel the transaction or you think the merchant is acting fraudulently, you can raise a dispute.
